Explore the Leie Region:

• Cycling and Hiking: Cyclists and hikers will feel right at home here. Our location is situated between nodes of the cycling node network Leiestreek. The renovated Mandeldal route also  close to our Guestsuite. For hikers, the provincial domain De Baliekouter offers a pleasant introduction with its visitor center and cafeteria. Furthermore, the Leie region now offers various hiking networks, including the Meykensbossen, Neerhoekwandeling in Oeselgem, and Vlasroterswandeling in Gottem. Each year, there are also BLOOM WALKS AND BIKE RIDES, during which the orchards of Dentergem transform into a true blooming village from around April 15 to May 15. Enjoy this beauty and book your guestsuite in advance.
• Guided Tours: For those who wish to explore the region with an experienced guide, you can reserve a tour with one of our 'greeters from the Leie region'. Upon request, these volunteers will guide you in the area of your choice, providing explanations and (historical) background information.

Culture and Museums:

• André Demedts Wandelroute: Culture enthusiasts will find plenty of museums in the Leie region. You can combine walking and culture with the André Demedts walking route. The museum is located in Sint-Baafs-Vijve, a neighboring municipality of Wakken, along an old Leie arm with a picnic area. In the vicinity, you'll also find the Roger Raveel Museum in Zulte (Machelen) and the museum 'Deinze and the Leie Region'.
• Boat Trips on the Leie: In Deinze (approximately 7 km from us), you can take a boat trip on the Leie. You pilot the boat yourself and sail towards Ghent. Electric boats are available, and no boating license is required. Along the way, you can picnic or enjoy a terrace. During the summer months, on some days, you can board for a guided boat trip, for day, afternoon, or evening trips, with or without meals and drinks included. City Trips and Attractions:

• Provincial Cities: You can visit the nearby provincial cities of Ghent and Kortrijk, or even closer, the 'shopping city' of Waregem or the charming city of Tielt.
• Lille: A little further than Kortrijk, Lille is a great recommendation for a day trip.
• Ypres: This beautiful city is located 50 km away and is in the spotlight in the coming years due to the commemoration of World War I '14 - '18.
• Bruges
• Gent
• Kortrijk

Local Delicacies and Attractions:

• Breweries: Don't forget to explore some local breweries, such as De Poes in Tielt, Canarus in Gottem, Maenhout in Meulebeke.
• Ostrich Farm: Visit the fascinating ostrich farm Schobbejaks Hoogte in Tielt (visit by appointment, it's worth it).
